Tales of Ever Episode #5

Dragon Rising by Jen WylieDragon Rising

My quest continues to find my dad. At least I now have proof he was actually banished to Ever too. I have so many questions still unanswered. Mainly, is he still alive and where is he? I hope I can find him.

My latest clue is a place called the Hidden City. Hopefully, he’s there. Hopefully, my friends and I can find it. Ever and its crazy landscapes keep throwing obstacles in our path. Monsters are something I’m used to fighting now. I think we’ll be okay.

Our main concern is the dragons. They’ve risen…which I’m told isn’t too strange, but they are acting peculiar. Something is wrong and none of us know what. I’m afraid Ever is about to get a lot more dangerous.

What readers are saying about Flawless Ruins:

Matched meets Romeo and Juliet in a richly imagined world which makes love seem impossible. Romantic, compelling, and impossible to put down.” Mandy Hubbard, author of Prada and Prejudice and You Wish

“With characters you can’t help but love and a world that’s beyond fascinating, Flawless Ruins is the dystopian novel for the non-dystopian reader.” –Harmony Book Reviews http://harmonybookreviews.blogspot.com/

“A mix of dystopia, romance, and suspense, Flawless Ruins is wonderfully written and impossible to put down. A unique story written by an equally unique young writer.” Modern Romance http://robertauld.blogspot.com

“The future – where the people who control information control everything. (Be nice to your librarian.) Luckily, Kieryn Nicolas has created a delightful group of teens who stick together, question everything and just want to be allowed to read Romeo and Juliet. Another fun adventure from a wonderful young author.” Pat Griffith, Schlow Centre Region Library

“Nicolas brings to life characters and a world unknown. She asks and answers the question: is perfect as perfect as it seems? Or is it just a flawless ruin?” Just Another Book Addict http://justanotherbookaddict.blogspot.com

Kieryn NicolasKieryn Nicolas resides in central Pennsylvania with her parents, younger sister, and yellow lab. The three activities that she would like to take up most of her time are writing, Taekwondo, and being with her friends. The three things that actually take up most of her time are school, homework, and the REM cycle.

As an editor, I get to read a lot of really cool stuff. Dangerous Waters by Ann Mason, however, is a knock-your-socks-off read. Just when you think you’ve got it figured out, there’s another layer to dig into until you discover you’re so buried in the story you can’t put it down. Full immersion is the only way to describe this debut author’s first novel. Dangerous Waters is a fabulous book!

Sixteen-year-old Elizabeth’s day to day life is no picnic. In her world there are two competing groups–the above ground peoples and the Hybrids who live underwater. Problem is, the Hybrids have taken almost everything from the above grounders; access to clean water, food, even money. Above-grounders like Elizabeth have to do what they can to survive. If that means stealing, well, c’est la vie.

But when Elizabeth robs a Hybrid, she bites off more than she can chew. Before she knows it, she’s been imprisoned by the Hybrids, who want to use her for their own ends. Some have her best interests at heart. Some do not. And when she finds herself on trial for a crime she didn’t commit, she must hope that the friends she’s made down below can save her. Because if they can’t, she’ll die.

Ann Mason is an attorney practicing insurance defense, which admittedly doesn’t furnish much in the way of plot for her novels but does allow for some good “people observation.” She lives on Long Island in New York with her husband, two kids and (with any luck) a dog in the near future.

Since her childhood, she has worked on creating interesting-looking characters, using a Crayola crayon box as inspiration (ever read about the girl with the ultramarine eyes?) She’s toned it down since then, but still loves creating pictures with words.

Ann loves to read, and, in keeping with what she enjoys, goes for a fast-paced narrative in her own stories. Since her son is a “reluctant reader,” s
he looks for topics that will grab his attention and keep him turning pages. She’s got several other projects in the works and hopes her readers will enjoy the ride!

Not bad for a rich man’s personal servant living in the heart of the Roman Empire. Until he comes face to face with the hazards of arrogance, bigotry, and hatred: primarily his own.

Blacksmith Lupus, the “Wolf,” will always carry the scars of slavery. A foreign-born “barbarian” and now a freedman, Lupus works his trade and lives a simple life, trying to put the past behind him.

When a twist of fate causes Marcus to tumble from his comfortable lifestyle into the ownership of Lupus, conflict erupts between the prideful slave and the humble smith. But there just might be more to Lupus than meets the eye. When danger threatens, maybe it’s not such a bad thing to be a Servant to the Wolf.
