Time is almost up! If you haven’t yet got your copy of Fur Face, buy it now and follow the contest rules so you can be entered to win your very own Kindle!

An evil scientist with a dastardly invention.  A sadisitic billionaire with a diabolical plan.  What stands in their way? Two teenagers and one amazing cat.

The bad guys don’t stand a chance!

When 13-year-old Londoner, Billy Euston, moves with his family to the English, country village of Little Chumberry, he finds an unlikely friend in Snowy, an outrageous talking cat that only he can hear.  Through Snowy he learns of an evil scientist who’s been kidnapping local animals for use in experiments on inter-species communication.

Billy finds himself drawn ever deeper into a world of animal cruelty and exploitation, where every answer uncovers another question.  Who is Fur-Face?  Why is he operating on animals’ brains?  What really goes on in the tunnels beneath Adventure Safari (the nearby zoo and theme park)?  Should Billy put his trust in Carmen, a local girl whose grandmother owns both the research center and the park?  One thing’s for certain, life in the countryside is not what he expected.

Connor Hayden: The Wonder Boy

Posted on

In case you are wondering who the heck Connor Hayden is, worry no more. I’m going to tell you. Right now. No, now. Right…okay, that got old fast. Connor is a really cool kid who lives down in Florida with his mom, dad, and sister. He is a pretty normal kid, except for one thing, he is eleven years old and…Connor Hayden is a published author.

Yup, that’s right. He is getting paid for stories that he has co-written and sells all over the world. Literally. Wanna know a little more about Connor? Here is, what just might be, his very first ever celebrity interview. And you read it here first.

1. You are writing this story with your dad; do you want to be a writer?

Yes, I am writing a book right now, by myself. It’s about a boy who got into a car accident when in his mothers stomach. The accident gave him a super brain. It’s called Miracle Child. Writing is fun. I’m thinking about writing another book after Miracle Child, but it won’t be a series.

2. What’s it like writing a story with your dad?

It’s fun. He teaches me about writing books. We laughed so hard coming up with the character names and story. Writing Steampunk is fun, too. We get to make crazy inventions.

3. What’s it like have a dad who is kind of a goof? (But a very nice one.)

Cool. We do all sorts of things together. One time we built a boat for boy scouts and now we do all sorts of martial arts things together. I’m in taekwondo and he’s in hapkido. I like to go with him so I can laugh. He makes me laugh all the time.

4. I hear you are pretty smart. What do you plan on as a career when you are older?

I want to be a chef or a teacher. I like to cook at home. I help mom and dad make dinner and mom is a really good cook. I want to have a family chili cook-off. I know my mom will win, but it would be fun. Being a teacher would be fun too. I like school and being a teacher would be awesome.

5. If you could go anywhere in the world, real or fantasy, where would it be?

Japan. To get all the latest Pokémon games that you can’t get in the US yet. I like Pokémon

6. What is your favorite thing about yourself?

My sarcasm. I’m a lot like my parents that way.

7. Who do you really look up to or admire?

Mr. Bump, my teacher, and my parents. He teaches math and science at my school. He makes learning fun. My parents are great role models for me. I want to be like them when I grow up.

8. Tell us three things about you that nobody knows.

I drink coffee. I love coffee! I’ m drinking French vanilla iced coffee right now.

I like a girl in my class, but I’m not going to tell you her name.

I’ve eaten the hottest pepper in the world. I cried.

9. What’s your favorite food you could not live without?

Cows. I love beef. Steaks, burgers, hotdogs, even the byproducts.

10. Why do you keep letting your dad buy more ducks?

Cuz they’re cute and fuzzy when they’re babies. Then they grow up to be fat and mean. They only like my dad. Sometimes I’m sorry he got them.

Snowstorm by Connie Hullander

Posted on

Being sixteen is cool, unless you’re in a psych ward.

When sixteen year-old Carly Blackstone wakes up behind bars with a massive headache, she thinks her life can’t get any worse. Unfortunately, it does. Standing before the same juvenile court judge for the fourth time, she is stunned to hear him commit her to a psychiatric hospital.

Once there, she is not only a charity case among a unit full of rich kids, she is battling the doctors and nurses to keep them out of her head. Her psychologist is really good at his job, however, and gradually chips away at her defenses, forcing her to see herself the way others do.

Her roommate’s disastrous decision pushes Carly to consider her own future and make choices that will change her life.

Kieryn Nicolas Delivers Flawlessly

Posted on

Kieryn Nicolas is one of our youngest authors, but you couldn’t tell from the writing. Her vivid and complex imagination, coupled with a direct honesty and a penchant for nailing a character perfectly, disguise the fact she is still in High School! Her previous works, Rain, a young adult spy novel, and her short story Poison Ivy are excellent examples of this young woman’s abilities. Therefore, we are delighted to officially announce the acquisition of her next novel, Flawless Ruins.

In 2238, life in America is finally perfect. The Wars are over and the CommWall is in place, blocking communication with what remains of other continents. The women are content to have a great education, choice careers, and glamorous hair. Best of all, when every girl turns seventeen she’s given her Like; an adorable, perfect spouse tailor-made just for her.

Everyone looks forward to the day she gets her Like, and Morgan Waters is no exception—until she accidentally stays out past curfew and stumbles across someone who appears to be a Like but claims to be a man. Morgan’s perfect world crumbles down around her in the midst of a forbidden romance, forcing her to deal with the realization that her life may not be so flawless after all.

Look for Flawless Ruins June 15th, 2011. You won’t want to miss this read! Visit Kieryn Nicolas on the internet to get updates and learn more: Blog, Website.

I am 16 years old and taking Advanced and Honors coursework. My debut YA spy/coming of age novel, Rain, and short story Poison Ivy was published by Quake (Echelon Press LLC) this year.  I have spoken at numerous libraries and schools, and was invited to be the visiting author at Wauconda High School in Illinois last October.

I have multiple works-in-progress and get new ideas all the time, especially when my mind wanders during class. I study Taekwondo and I love to swing dance. Instead of a “sweet 16” I trained to do a half marathon with Team in Training, raising money to fight blood cancers, in honor of my grandfather (a lymphoma survivor).
