Thirteen-year-old Delbert Dallas is the son of Daniel and Dolores Dallas. Daniel is a cartoon composer and works for a tyrant music director. Dolores Dallas is an officer in the United States Army and is often gone for great lengths of time. Delbert has two brothers, one older named Damien and one younger named Dougie. To escape them both, he’ll learn to play his guitar like a rock star.
Walter Wheeler is mad. He’s picked on at school, he’s ignored at home, and he wants to take over the world. When he gets a magical viola for his 14th birthday, he discovers a dragon lives in the instrument, one he can ride to distant places and maybe, change his fate. Each trip back in time offers an opportunity to further his power in the future.
