Laramie Wyoming is in big trouble—as usual—but this is the biggest, baddest trouble he’s ever gotten himself into.
Eleven-year-old Laramie is a lot of things: an average student, a little mischievous, always messy, constantly curious, and on most days, a good big brother. But Laramie also loves adventure. He and his trusty black Labrador, Maestro, are always getting into some kind of a pickle. They live with Laramie’s parents and his little sister in the town he was named after—Laramie, Wyoming. But when his mother, a travel writer, gets the chance to take her family with her on a trip around the country to write a book, they jump into their motor home and head for the great unknown. The adventure hasn’t stopped since!
Even though he’s used to getting in (and out) of scrapes, Laramie never—not in a million years—dreamed he and Maestro would end up being chased from Virginia to Alaska and lots of places in-between by bank robbers.

You know you’re in trouble when you see your picture on the front page of the newspaper and discover you’re wanted by the local police for robbing a bank—all because you were just trying to be polite!
Laramie Wyoming always (well, most of the time) does what his mother tells him to. But what happens when an unsuspecting sixth grader holds open the door for three men leaving the bank?
The police accuse him of robbing it. What kind of a deal is that?
The next thing Laramie knows, his mother is ready to scalp him, the police are hot on his trail, his dad’s going to blow his top when he gets home, and he and his dog Maestro are holed up in the tree house. Oh, and there’s the $30,000 in his backpack he didn’t have the day before. Worst of all, the robbers want it back.
Life gets complicated for Laramie Wyoming of Laramie, Wyoming, and he’s got a lot to do if he wants to clear his name, get the police off his back, avoid the bank robbers, and ever see the inside of his house again.

Laramie Wyoming is in trouble again, but this time trouble has followed him to Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. Laramie didn’t think things could get worse than the world’s worst bully, Prentiss Williams being along for the ride, until the men who robbed the bank in Laramie’s hometown showed up.
A lot has happened since Laramie’s brush with the law back in Wyoming. Laramie’s family is traveling the country for a year. Prentiss’s parents are in prison for their roles in the bank robbery, so Laramie’s mom and dad have taken Prentiss in as a foster child. Oh, joy.
When Prentiss and Laramie spot the two men walking the streets of Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area, they know they’ve got problems. The robbers want the money, the boys don’t have it, and no one bothered to tell the bad guys to stop looking. When the chase leads them to a secret staircase in the Governor’s Palace, things get really weird.
It’s up to Laramie, his black lab, Maestro, and Prentiss to elude the robbers, keep Laramie’s family safe, and figure out what the two men who followed them all the way across the country really want.

While visiting Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Laramie, Prentiss, and Maestro are chased again by bad guys. Gee whiz, wasn’t all that trouble in Virginia enough? To make matters worse, the boys finally confess to Laramie’s parents they’ve been handling the bad guys by themselves… well, except for all that help from the mysterious Jeremiah. Charlie and Maggie Wisner are riding to Alaska on motorcycles and befriend the Wyoming family. A man named Ethan who works for the police is sent to assist them in finally catching the people chasing the boys.
Driving deep into the Canadian wilderness, Laramie, Prentiss, and Maestro are tested once again. Do they have what it takes to be victorious? Is danger stalking them mile after mile? Can they crack this case and finally end all this trouble or will the bad guys still win in the end?
